for the AI-Powered PMP® Exam Prep Simulator
Last Updated: August, 25th 2024
When presenting the AI-powered PMP Exam simulator to customers or students, you are likely to encounter a variety of questions. Here are some categories of questions you might face, along with examples of how you might answer.
Functionality and Features
- How does the AI-powered simulator work?
- The AI powered PMP exam simulator is based on a “Hybrid Intelligence System” concept that keeps humans in the loop while leveraging Artificial Intelligence to support the learning experience. Detailed information about the system can be found here.
- What do we get from this tool, that we cannot get from plain ChatGPT?
- ChatGPT is a great tool, and it can certainly generate PMP exam looking questions. ChatGPT “plain vanilla” version however is a chatbot and has no PMP related quality control embedded into it, the questions may or may not be correct. Also, our tool includes features which track the progress of the learner across the PMP relevant topics and support the learner in this process. It is in short, a suite of features which together support the learner.
- What types of questions are included in the simulator?
- All questions in the simulator are based off the so called “PMI cloned questions”. These are questions which we receive directly from PMI as examples of the types of questions we might receive at the exam. The question generating process takes these as a starting point to create similarly styled questions across the full spectrum of the exam topics.
- The topics object of the questions are based on PMI’s Exam Content Outline (ECO).
- Can the simulator adapt to different learning styles or difficulty levels?
- Currently no. The exam questions level is the PMP exam level, and it is the same for all learners. We do however plan to include this dynamic feature in next releases. All new releases automatically upgrade existing license holders.
- Does the simulator include the most recent updates to the PMP exam?
- Yes, the simulator is kept up to date with PMI developments. It is based on the latest editions of the ECO, of the PMBOK, and several other PMI defined sources.
- How does the simulator track progress and provide recommendations?
- The simulator tracks the progress of the student in the following dimensions: Domain, Methodology, Progress Group, Knowledge Area. The AI will generate a progress report with recommendations for each student at intervals (ex.: weekly, 10-days, …) defined by the student.
- Can students retake simulated exams or customize their practice exams?
- Yes, students may retake the simulated exams as often as they deem useful. Simulated exams come in different sizes: Full Exam (180 questions), Practice Exam (90 questions), Mini exam (30 questions), and Micro exam (15 questions).
- How are the learning cards integrated into the study process?
- Learning cards are short topic overviews that the learners use to quickly refresh their memory about specific topics. There are currently 185 Learning Cards in the system, and more are being added. They cover the extent of the ECO. Learner progress across the learning cards is also tracked and visible to the learners.
- Is there a feature that mimics the time pressure of the actual PMP exam?
- Yes, the Simulated exams themselves are timed and a countdown timer is visible to the learner across the exam simulation.
- Also, a game: “Beat the clock”, is available to practice answering questions under time pressure.
Content and Accuracy
- Are the questions in the simulator representative of the actual PMP exam?
- Yes, to the best of our effort. The questions are generated based on over 250 “PMI Cloned Questions” which we received from PMI for this purpose.
- Who developed the questions and how are they validated for accuracy?
- The questions are created using Artificial Intelligence and validated by human SMEs. Following are both the quiz development process and the quiz quality control process:
- Quiz development process
- Quiz quality control process
- How often is the content updated?
- Questions are updated on a continuous rotation basis. We track which questions are “too easy” and clear them out swapping them with new questions. Also, trainer feedback is utilized for this purpose.
- Does the simulator cover all the knowledge areas and process groups of the PMBOK Guide?
- Yes. However, the simulator is based around the latest version of PMI’s Exam Content Outline (ECO)
- Are there any guarantees regarding the success rate for students who use this simulator?
- No. Preparation for the exam is a personal matter. We do however have a very high pass rate to our trainer led classes. While this tool may also be helpful as a stand-alone tool, using this tool together with a trainer led class is most recommended.
User Experience and Accessibility
- Is the simulator mobile-friendly or accessible on different devices?
- Yes, the simulator is adapted to PC, Mobile and tablet.
- Can the simulator be used offline?
- No, this simulator needs to connect to our databases to work.
- How user-friendly is the interface for someone not tech-savvy?
- No technical knowledge is necessary. It is user friendly for any normal phone or pc user.
- Is there a demo or trial version available for testing?
- Yes, a free test version may be accessed from the Sign Up page. Insert: Name, Surname and Email address. Click on “Sign Up” and you will receive a verification email thereby creating a free test account.
- Are there any accessibility features for students with disabilities?
- The quizzes and the learning cards may also be “listened to”. Text-to-voice feature is active.
Integration with Other Products/Services
- How does this simulator integrate with your PMP preparation classes?
- This simulator follows the same content as the class, and our trainers will use this simulator as a practice tool in class.
- Specific “trainer features” also exist, making the interaction between the tool and the usage in class as simple as possible.
- Can progress in the simulator be tracked alongside live or online classes?
- Yes, it can. In the same way in which it will continue to be tracked after the end of the class.
- Is there support for integrating the simulator into an LMS (Learning Management System)?
- The simulator may be integrated into the IIL LMS which permits Single-Sign-On (SSO). This is usually the case with corporate customers.
- Integration into the customer’s LMS is also possible but would require additional work and costs.
Support and Resources
- What kind of customer support is available for users of the simulator? What happens if users encounter technical issues during an exam simulation?
- Students may reach out to their trainer during the class, to help@iil.com for technical challenges, or use the help functions which are in-built into the tool.

- Yes, students may download the guide or view the video here.
- Is there a community or forum where users can share experiences and tips?
- Yes, students may freely access IIL’s LinkedIn community. The link is in the tool.
Data Privacy and Security
- How is the data collected by the simulator used?
- User data such a Name, Surname and Email are collected by the tool.
- Is student data shared with any external parties.
- No, it isn’t. Data is shared only with the providers of the tool itself.
- How secure is the data stored within the simulator?
- The data is stored on AWS secure servers.
- What measures are in place to protect against data breaches?
- Since the user data stored is very limited and not sensitive, and the AWS servers are extremely secure, we take no additional action.
